In the Lab at QuaverMusic.com, students can experiment with the science of sound by manipulating the attributes of audio waveforms with our simplified oscilloscope.
QSynth introduces students to the oscilloscope - usually used to view the waveform of an audio signal. But QSynth works in reverse, inviting students to manipulate a waveform and then listen to how it sounds!
In QSynth, students experiment with:
- Types of Waveforms: choose from sine, square, sawtooth, and triangle
- Amplitude: change the loudness of the tone
- Phase, Harmonics, & Detune: change the relationship of one tone to another
- Keyboard: choose the note of the tone being manipulated
QSynth helps teachers make Cross-Curricular Connections between Science and Music and empowers students to create a whole new sound in the process.
QSynth is free to Students & Teachers with QuaverMusic.com accounts.
