It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…time to announce the winners of our 2018 Summer Contest!

At the end of the spring semester, we asked you, our Qmunity of teachers and students, to get creative! For this summer’s contest, we challenged teacher and students to rewrite the lyrics to the classic folk song, “The More We Get Together.”

With so many amazing entries, it was hard to narrow it down to just a couple of winners! The competition was tough but ultimately, we are excited to announce that Quaver will be visiting a very lucky school this year!

Let’s take a look at the big winners:

Bethke Elementary
Fort Collins, Colorado

Ms. Adams and her students from Bethke Elementary will be receiving a visit from Quaver this year! Her student Collin wrote his very own song to the tune of “The More We Sing Together.” His song, “The Four Men on Mount Rushmore,” introduces us to the presidents who are featured on this famous monument! Quaver himself was very impressed with Collin’s songwriting skills, creativity, and historical knowledge. And we dare you not to get his song stuck in your head! Congratulations Collin! Quaver can’t wait to stop by Bethke Elementary!

Lyrics:

The four men on Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore.
The four men on Mount Rushmore
Are carved into stone.
There’s Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln & Teddy.
The four men on Mount Rushmore are carved into stone.

First, we have Washington, Washington, Washington.
First, we have Washington –
First president.
He was the general against the British.
First, we have Washington, first president.

Next we have Jefferson, Jefferson, Jefferson.
Next, we have Jefferson –
Third president.
He declared that all men are created equal.
Next, we have Jefferson, third president.

Lincoln freed the slaves, the slaves, the slaves.
Lincoln freed the slaves
And was very tall.
He was shot while watching a play.
Lincoln freed the slaves and was very tall.

And last we have Theodore, Theodore, Theodore.
Last we have Theodore –
Roosevelt.
He founded the park system and won the peace prize.
Last, we have Theodore Roosevelt.

The four men on Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore.
The four men on Mount Rushmore
Are carved into stone.
There’s Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln & Teddy.
The four men on Mount Rushmore are carved into stone.

But that’s not all! We had so many great posts, that we’re also going to visit ONE more school by video call, as a thank you for their wonderful participation!

Quaver will be video chatting with:

Colegio Menor, Campus Quito
Quito, Ecuador

We were so impressed by the bilingual students of Ms. del Carmen’s class from Colegio Menor in Ecuador! We were inspired with their creative lyrics (both in English and in Spanish!) and their awesome movements. Quaver cannot wait to video chat with you! Congratulations Colegio Menor and Ms. del Carmen! Here are just a couple of their awesome videos:

Lyrics:

Si todos cantamos juntos, muy juntos, muy juntos
Si todos cantamos juntos al mundo uniremos.
Del Norte al Sur
Del Este al Oeste
Si todos Cantamos juntos
Al mundo uniremos

Lyrics:

The more we compose together, together, together
The more we compose together, the smarter we´ll be
Cause your notes are my notes
and my notes are your notes
The more we compose together, the smarter we’ll be

Congrats to all of our winners, and thank you to everyone that participated!

We’ll be contacting the music teacher at each winning school to set up your school visit or video call with Quaver.

Stay tuned for our next contest! We wish you a Boom-Chicka-Awesome start to the new school year!
